The director of the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region (IVS), Jane Brown, the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, and Council of Social Services, Works and Services, María Isabel Martínez and Juan Antonio Chico, respectively, visited the 74 local social housing, rehabilitated thanks to the counseling Repair Plan for Public Works, with an investment of around 200 thousand euros.
These homes are located on the street Gabriel García Márquez (45 houses), Picasso (10), Fortuna (5), Pedro Maria Chico de Guzman (8), General Carreño (4) and Marmallejo (2), "which host large number of families in need, they now have homes more livable, and we want people who are fully integrated into society, "said the mayor.
The works have included the rehabilitation of facades, the design of access areas and courtyards housing, improving electricity grids and water supply, the installation of security doors, as well as incorporating fire protection systems.
The director of the IVS has also announced that "we will send a consignment of 130,000 euros, by the Institute of Housing and Lands, to paint the entire facade and the inner courtyards of the houses in the street Gabriel García Márquez", better known as "Alcatraz."
For its part, María Isabel Martínez has expressed his satisfaction to see these works completed, "because they are really targeted to those most in need, plus get the best of times, given the precarious economic situation in many cases."
The mayor also encouraged all beneficiaries and residents in these homes to keep common areas clean and livable.
He also thanked the good work done by municipal technicians and cehegineras companies that have participated in these reforms, and, of course, "John Brown from betting Cehegín once again."
