The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, posted this morning the first stone of the new Day Care Centre for the Elderly in Cehegín.
He was accompanied by the delegate of the Government in the Region, Rafael González Tovar, the mayor of the municipality, Jose Soria, and the director of the Office for the Unit, Miguel Angel Miranda.
The center project, with capacity for 54 users, was budgeted at 1,017,880 euros, of which 900,000 are the contribution of the Ministry of Education and Science, 94,304 is the contribution of the region and 23,576 (land value ) the City Council.
Lead time is four months.
This new center is part of the approved investments for seven municipalities thanks to an agreement signed last March 11 by the Regional Government and the Ministry of Education and Science, whose value amounts to 11,630,800 euros.
This amount was intended to build day care centers for seniors in Albudeite, Cehegín, Puri (Lorca) and Villanueva del Segura, and a center of social facilities in Fortuna, a center for promotion of personal autonomy in Molina de Segura, a center day for the mentally handicapped in Puerto Lumbreras, a multipurpose center for the mentally handicapped in Lorca (Apandis) and a residential center for mentally handicapped, also in Lorca (Asprodes).
These centers will benefit some 1,700 people and generate 528 jobs.
By municipality, the calculation of employment is 15 Albudeite, 118 Lorca, 30 Cehegín, 26 in Villanueva del Segura, 38 in Puerto Lumbreras, 49 and 28 Fortuna Molina.
The Ministry, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action, subsidizes 25 day stays spaces, of which 15 are EDS (Day Care Service) and 10 are SEDA (Service Day with Alzheimer's stay) to the City of Cehegín, amounting of 76,822 euros.
In total there are 938 seats in Day Care Centers in the Region, of which 649 are 289 are SED and SEDA, while 375 are owned and 563 are subsidized.
