The Sports Association has presented the Athletic Cehegín XXVIII Murciano Sports Awards 2009, the oldest in the region, in an event which was attended by the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, Cehegín mayor, Jose Soria, and President of the group host, Juan Martinez, among others.
The City of Cartagena has been the big star of the show, with seven awards made, a total of eleven.
These were Manuel Ángel Balaguer (journalism), swimmer Margarita Dominguez (best athlete), athlete Bertrand Alcaraz (best athlete sub-18), the College Football San Ginés (sportsmanship), Taekwondo Federation Region Murcia (sports promotion), the Table Tennis Himoinsa (feat sport) and, posthumously, José Navarro (Honours).
The other winners were the athlete Miguel Ángel López (best athlete), the cyclist Gloria Rodriguez (best athlete sub-18), Anatoliy kayaker Baghlan (best coach) and Beatriz Rodriguez Llopis (special mention posthumously).
