Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria, and Councilwoman Maria Teresa Gonzalez, representing the mayor of Women, Felicidad Fernández, presented the activities to be carried out to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women held on 25 November.
18 and 20 of this month will be two workshops on the prevention of gender violence to women, in the multipurpose room of the Youth Space, 17 to 19.30.
On day 25, at 12 pm and held a rally at the Casa de la Cultura, where white ribbons will be imposed, will read a manifesto and commemorative calendars will be delivered this day to all attendees.
Two plays will also be part of the activities.
The first one will be staged at the Palacio de Congresos Víctor Villegas, Murcia, on 25.
Arena Theatre Company will perform 'My life revolves around 500 meters', all stakeholders can join the Equality Authority (House of Music) to exit from the Plaza del Alpargatero.
Maltrago Theatre Company will be responsible for taking the stage in the House of Culture Cehegín, day 28, which will develop 'Limited', at 20 hours.
These activities will also all local colleges and for the first time, to the districts, with numerous workshops and stories.
For his part, Jose Soria wanted to make a series of horrifying statistics, to raise awareness to those causes of ill-treatment and of the suffering.
The mayor has said that in 2005 killed 64 women victims of gender violence in 2006, another 64, in 2007, 65, and so far in 2008, and there are 60 women in this blacklist.
These figures give food for thought.
