During the month of January 2015 the City Council granted a subsidy to carry out the improvement of energy efficiency in various municipal buildings through pipes led.
This project was conducted with funding (10%) and collaboration of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Business and Innovation and has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) by 40%, bringing the rest of the City Cehegín.
The cost of the project was of € 51,834.22.
Among the buildings that have been replaced by fluorescent tubes LED tubes are Cehegín City Council, the House of Culture, the Palace of the Third, Sports Pavilion and various schools in the city.

LED technology is currently the most efficient and innovative lighting that about 80% of electrical energy is converted into light, consuming very little power and therefore emit very little heat.
Traditional incandescent bulbs convert only 20% of the energy into light, losing 80% as heat.
Furthermore, the light emitted by the LED is much brighter and sharper than halogen and fluorescent.
It has an immediate ignition and flicker or no intensity variations.
Environmentally, the LED devices also have advantages since they do not need any gas for lighting, unlike fluorescent tubes that work based mercury vapor, whose components are harmful to health and the environment.
