The CEO of Persons with Disabilities of IMAS has visited the headquarters of the association accompanied by the mayor and the councilman of Social Services
Cehegín City Council and the Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness Northwest (Afemnor) will sign an agreement for its users to take care of the maintenance of public space gardens Coso in the old part of the town, as a means of labor integration.
This news was announced by the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, during his visit to the headquarters of Afemnor by the director general of People with Disabilities Instituto Murciano Social Action, John Brown, which was also attended by the Councillor Social Services, Maria Jose Maya and Afemnor president, Martin Garcia.
The Mayor announced that the City will give in to Afemnor the social center of the street Picasso for this partnership to have a space to carry out occupational labor integration workshops aimed at its users.
John Brown has said that the Instituto Murciano Social Action Afemnor collaborates annually with more than 265,000 euros, "an amount that can be long or short but it shows the effort made from the Autonomous Community by these people."
The CEO has shown surprised by the center's facilities and the work develops Afemnor daily with 25 users across the Northwest Region, while acknowledged that "there are many things to do".
For his part, President of Afemnor, Martin Garcia, besides recalling the need to promote the employment of people with mental illness, has moved its request to create in the Northwest sheltered housing for these people.
In addition, Garcia explained that all the associations of people with mental illness nationwide are collecting signatures nationwide to order a health copayment more just and equitable.
Afemnor was founded in 2005 and is a non-profit organization dedicated mainly to collaborate in efforts for the proper care of persons with disabilities due to mental illness and recognition of their rights and those of their families, seeking normalization and acceptance this social disease.
Currently provides users with services day center, school families, leisure time and volunteer program.
