Cehegín City Council, through the Department of Environment, directed by María Dolores Carrasco, returns to participate once again in the campaign 'Earth Hour' for combating climate change, in which thousands of cities around the world turned off for one hour lighting monuments and emblematic spaces, next Saturday, March 28, from 20:30 to 21:30 hours.
In Cehegín shall be disconnected from the ornamental exterior lighting of the City Hall, the arcades of the Plaza del Castillo, the Archaeological Museum, the Palace of the Fajardo, the church of St. Mary Magdalene Church of Solitude, the Holy Christ, the palace of the Third, the ruins of the chapel of San Sebastian, the shrine of the Virgen de la Peña, the convent of San Esteban, the Youth Space and the arc of the Plaza of Spain.
'Earth Hour 2015' aims to involve more than one billion people and mobilize 7,000 cities around the world to show global support for action against climate change by turning off the lights of their main buildings and monuments.
2015 is a crucial year for climate since December governments around the world will gather in Paris and must reach a new agreement that would curb climate change and avoid the worst ecological, economic and social impacts.
María Dolores Carrasco has appealed to all citizens, businesses and traders to adhere to the campaign through the web www.horadelplaneta.es and participate actively in the fight against climate change.
