Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria, has discovered this morning the plate labeled with the name of Pope John Paul II the park opened last year in Peña Rubia area between the streets Joan Miró and Tarifa.
The event was attended by several priests from the parishes of the Virgen de las Maravillas, San Antonio de Padua and St. Mary Magdalene, and several councilors and locals.
Jose Soria explained that the name of John Paul II to this park was approved in plenary, and stressed the values ​​of the Pontiff who died in 2005, "one of the most important figures of the twentieth century and early twenty-first."
The park John Paul II was inaugurated on April 24 last year after an investment of 73,000 euros and comprises two zones at different heights saving the uneven ground.
The upper recess is chaired by an artificial lake with a central fountain.
The park has vegetation and abundant landscaping and a playground with swings.
