Canara farmers and scope are assessing and studying the possibility of creating a new cooperative, in this case fruit to bring together the numerous producers in the area and strengthen its presence in the domestic and overseas market.
A group of these farmers held a meeting in the hamlet which was attended by the CEO of agricultural training, Ángel García Lidón;
Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria;
President of the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia (Fecoam), Santiago Martínez;
Chairman Canaraflor cooperative;
Agriculture Councilman Joaquin Marin and all the village headman.
This meeting proposed ideas, has analyzed the current situation in which is the agricultural sector and what are the challenges and problems to which it faces and has even been talk that the new cooperative could be born as a section are the Canaraflor cooperative, dedicated to the production and marketing of cut flower and founded in 1989.
According to the Mayor, next spring will be programmed from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fecoam a conference to publicize what farmers are the most productive crops and what transformation could be done to look for other more competitive products.
"The key now is to produce what the market demands," added Jose Soria.
On the other hand, the general director of Agricultural Training has used his visit to Canara to check the damage caused by the wind storm in late January in the greenhouses of flowers.
Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture have assessed the damage if the owners could benefit from some type of financial aid.
