Caritas Cehegín is performing the Begastri Project, a restoration workshop and recycling of old or used furniture by promoting and supporting the employment of people who are in a disadvantaged situation.
To achieve this goal, Caritas supported the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) for this workshop, which began in September and is funded, in turn, project by the European Social Fund (ESF ).
The Begastri project is a training for employment and its main objective is to increase employability or chances of access to the labor market for people from disadvantaged groups, through learning of labor, social habits, specific basic knowledge of a trade and of their practice.
In this case, recycling and restoration of second-hand furniture.
The project has ten places for the restoration workshop, scholarships to 10 euros a day for assistance, but is also aimed at all those who need to improve their employability, working on social skills training, literacy, computer, etc. subjects.
The training is being conducted at the Day Center San Francisco, in spaces assigned by the Franciscan Community.
In them, Caritas members and project participants are responsible for selecting, sorting, restore and give new life to furniture that has been de-used to re-sell at flea markets and on site at token prices intended that the proceeds be re-invested in the project.
Participants of this training may be referred from Social Services City of Cehegín or go to the same entity.
All citizens who wish may contribute to the project, either by donating all those furnishings you no longer want or simply can acquire some of the furniture whose prices are quite affordable.
