The Food Bank conducts nationwide campaign to help the five million people living below the poverty line in Spain
The Spanish Food Bank Federation (FESBAL) held on 28 and 29 November, Friday and Saturday next, the Second Great Food Collection to help address the five million people living below the poverty line in Spain.
The initiative reaches Cehegín through the Safe Food Bank with the support of Caritas.
And different supermarkets and grocery stores.
FESBAL President pointed out that the forecasts for the year 2014 are that the demand increase by less than in previous years, percent "but that does not mean that the problem is resolved," he warned.
FESBAL recalled that non-perishable foods like milk, oil and canned fish are the most needed, along with porridge and milk powder for babies and infants.
"There is still much to be done," said appealing to the solidarity of citizens.
In Cehegín, over 20 people have volunteered so far to participate in the collection of food although the term is still open, and from Caritas appealed to citizens is to collaborate with them to receive food.
