Cehegín City Council has organized through the Department of Social Services directed by María José Maya, a storyteller to commemorate the Universal Day of the Rights of Children.
The storytelling will be held this coming Thursday, November 20th, at the House of Culture from 18:00.
"The goal of this activity is to spread the celebration of the Rights of Children and raise awareness among the population about the importance of the rights of minors are not only known but increasingly implement to avoid vulnerability and the vulnerability of children, "said Councilwoman Social Services, María José Maya.
María José Maya recalled, concrete measures to support the child, the Plan of Action Against Child Poverty approved by the regional government with which resources are mobilized exceed EUR 2.6 million, distributed among municipalities, associations and organizations helping children.
"While this plan is not enough, it is a big step to continue the fight against child poverty and helping many children who are at risk of social exclusion," added the mayor.
In 1956, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries institute an Universal Children's Day, which would be devoted to the fraternity and understanding between children around the world and be devoted to activities to promote the welfare of children in the world.
November 20 marks the date on which the General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. Therefore, the November 20 has become the Universal Day Boys and Girls.
