The Councillor for Education, Nicholas del Toro, explained this morning at a press conference that the City Council has given Cehegín Associations of Parents (AMPAS) to schools and colleges of the municipality a total of 26,765 euros for the Book Bank each school.
The creation of the Book Bank was approved by the Municipal School Board on May 30, 2012, as explained Nicholas de Toro.
The mayor said that "the City Council understand that the reuse of textbooks is essential for students to appreciate and care for school supplies, as well as an initiative that helps to minimize the economic hardship that many families are living in recent years. "
The money contributed to the Book Bank is granted directly to AMPAS, del Toro explained, "because that was agreed at a meeting, because the City did not care to transfer that money to the schools."
Nicolás del Toro has reiterated that "without the involvement of AMPAS, as well as educational institutions, Book Bank had not been able to implement. From City Hall we thank you to all those parents who have worked selflessly with this initiative. "
Councilman Education added that with the money contributed by the City schools must help all students, "you can not discriminate against anyone."
