The Department of Public Safety and Traffic reports Cehegín City Council has joined the 'Special Campaign on Seat Belt and Child Restraint Systems' which will take place between 10 and 16 March 2014, promoted by the General Directorate of Traffic.
"The primary objective is to improve the safety of drivers and vehicle occupants,. Especially ensure that no child loses his life because it was not properly seated in a proper seat for their weight and height according to the latest studies, if they had properly used restraint systems required, 9 out of 10 serious or fatal child injury would have been avoided, "he explained Councilwoman Citizen Security and Traffic, Maria Dolores Carrasco.
To carry out the campaign, local police conduct checks, all week, to detect those drivers or passengers not using seatbelts, and also, it will affect the proper use of child restraints, which many cases are not used properly, especially when traveling to colleges.
"These offenses are considered serious and can carry the loss of driving license points," Carrasco recalled.
