Cehegín Local Police intercepted a person who bought at the weekly market using counterfeit bills, according to information the Councillor for Public Safety, Maria Dolores Carrasco.
The incident occurred about 12:45 pm on Wednesday, while two officers of the local police public safety functions performed within the weekly market.
The agents were required by one of the traders warning that someone had made purchases at his post with counterfeits, and also warned that the weekly market Calasparra a similar event had happened weeks ago.
The agents quickly began searching the individual, intercepting it on the road from Murcia, making a surface caching, found in possession of a counterfeit 20 euro.
The officers accompanied this person for positions where he had bought, being in two positions, two counterfeit € 20 banknotes.
This person, of Moroccan nationality and resident of Calasparra, has been reported to the appropriate legal authority.
The Department of Public Safety advises citizens to be extremely careful to avoid fraud.
"These are common practices taking advantage of the conditions of the elderly, tricking them to enter their homes, and take the money and jewelry they have.
