Around 150 children aged between 3 ° of the Virgin Primary schools in Wonderland, Conde Campillos Begastri City and Our Lady of Wonders recently participated in a day of revegetation in the Northwest Greenway as it passes through cehegín.
This activity is included in the Environmental Education Program in Drylands 'Line by Line' performed by the Cajamar Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Cehegín to sensitize the students about conservation of vegetation in these areas to avoid combat desertification and aridity.
These same students participated in a theoretical and practical talks last October in which they were introduced in the areas of erosion, desertification and biodiversity.
They also learned about the different stages through which plants go before reaching the field and were able to plant their own seeds and take them home in biodegradable pots, so that when they grow up they can plant them directly in the field.
Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria, said that "the best job we can do in all areas is with the children, and those who have participated in this event, and they certainly know their parents transmit these skills and values learned ".
For his part, Councillor of Environment, Maria Dolores Carrasco, expressed his satisfaction with this type of activities that make children become sensitized to these issues and become aware of how important it is to learn to care for and respect the natural environment.
Also wanted to thank Carrasco Cajamar Foundation which has benefited Cehegín to be one of two municipalities in Murcia which has developed the program this year, which has been extended thanks to the participating schools.
