The Wine School is located in the cellar of the Palace of Terce, the first third of the seventeenth century
The President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria, attended last night at the opening of the Wine School, a space that opens its doors with the aim of becoming a reference formation about the world of wine both professionals and those who want to come for the first time in this world as well as being an exciting new tourist product of the municipality, which adds to its cultural, historical, gastronomic and natural.
The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, the director general of Tourism, Enrique Ujaldón and Councilman Cehegín Tourism Francisco in April, among others.
The head of Murcia said Wine School is a "very successful bet Cehegín City Council as it is the best way to diversify a wide range of tourist, speaking of the recovery of an interesting from the point of architectural and historical, to which we must add the content that will give you, as a dump with reality winemaking, food and culture. "
For his part, the mayor of Cehegín said that "this space gives more strength to the Denomination of Origin of Bullas while recovering a heritage Cehegín very interesting."
The Wine School is located in a cellar of the early seventeenth century, adapted for this purpose, in the cellars of the Palace of the Tertia, a large building used, originally, as a store where you collected the tithes paid by the inhabitants of the villa to the Order of Santiago.
Its construction date, surely, between 1608 and 1625, since the winery sources of Santiago located inside the Castle, on the first date, while in 1625 speaks of the barns and cellars of the Knights installed in the new house.
Already in the twentieth century was the Civil Guard barracks.
Now the winery is suitable both for tourism and training with a performance that represents an investment of 261 435 euros.
It has a teaching area in which through panels can be known issues such as grape types, processes of winemaking, wine glasses and bottles types of corkscrews, operating temperatures, marriage, etc..
On the other side features a training designed to make tasting courses, lectures, small cultural events around the world of wine, etc., kitchen connected with the classroom training courses and workshops to perform pairing, lids, etc. and a large area devoted to the sale of wines from DO Bullas, as well as objects and tools related to wine, like glasses, decanters, corkscrews, etc..
The project is supported by the sommelier ceheginero Pedro Martinez, awarded the 'Golden Nose' and a reference to regional and national level.
The Wine School represents a significant expansion of tourism in the municipality, which has increased in recent years because, among other actions, to Market 'The Mesoncico', to Routes in the Old Town or the implementation of Ecological Park, in addition to traditional festivals and large crowds.
All this, in collaboration with the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
The Tertia Palace is located in the old town of Cehegín, very centrally located and easily accessible, next to the renowned Garden Tertia, and the House Europe, rather than shelter for tourists and cultural exchanges.
