About 60 artists in Spain participating in the contest, the highest number of entries in the twelve issues that have been held
The Malaga painter Cristóbal León has won the first prize in the Contest XII Air Painting 'Cehegín Old Town' held yesterday, Sunday May 26, with an oil on board that recreates one of the most picturesque and characteristic of the old cehegín as the place where the street begins Lopez-Chicheri, a few meters from the square in front of the Mesoncico and Real Mercy Hospital.
The first prize is endowed with 1,500 euros provided by the City ceheginero.
For his part, Manuel Gonzalez Albacete has been awarded the second prize of 650 euros from Bodegas Carreño, while Antonio Agulló Elche has won the third prize of 500 euros from Supermarkets Navarrete.
As for the runners, the first has been to Piedad St., second for Julio Gomez and the third for Manuel Jimenez.
Each is worth 300 euros from oils Juan Wonders, Athemis Advisors and Service Station Las Maravillas, respectively.
The girl Amy Margaret Egan has won the Junior section, getting a bonus of 150 euros consisting of paint material.
The jury, chaired by the Councillor for Culture, Nicolas del Toro, and which also includes the painters Nicolas de Maya, Christopher Morales and John Carlini, the degree in Art History, Alfonso Alcazar, and the gallery owner Laura Abril, has highlighted the high quality of cadres participating in the competition and the high number of painters enrolled in the same, a total of 58, totaling 53 of the Adult category and 5 of the Youth.
This level of participation is higher in twelve editions of this contest.
And, yesterday, Sunday, was again Cehegín muse and inspiration for these artists, who came from many parts of the Region of Murcia and beyond, such as Malaga, Vizcaya, Albacete, Almeria, Alicante, Cordoba and Barcelona .
Armed with easels, boards or canvas, brushes, paints and other supplies needed, painters were distributed freely throughout the old town, choosing those corners or urban enclaves wanted to capture in his works.
Churches, palaces and mansions, balconies, lampposts, railings, overhangs, streets and facades were reflected in works that reflect all the charm and beauty that one of the most historic and artistic interest of the Region of Murcia.
