The Councillor for Social Services, María José de Maya, recalled that the City of Cehegín continues the campaign to collect used mobile phones and tablet, working or not, so they can be sold to phone companies and thereby raise funds which support several families with children affected by Angelman Syndrome.
"With those collected until Friday we will deliver, so I encourage all cehegineros to deposit their old phones in the designated point in the House of Culture, Youth Space, the City and the schools," asked Maya, who added that, however, the collection will remain valid for a new release in the future.
This syndrome is a neurogenetic disease considered rare, as it affects 1 in 20,000 newborns, and is characterized by severe mental retardation, severe speech impairment, ataxia and / or tremor in the limbs, and an apparent state of joy that includes laughter frequent smiles and excitability.
The funds raised will go to help these families through the creation of new lines of research into the disease.
