More than 250 adults and youngsters participated this past weekend in Exhibition Contest Palomos XXVI indigenous breeds of the Region of Murcia, organized by the Society of Cehegín Colombicultura with the cooperation of the City through its Department of Sports and yesterday, Sunday, ended with the awards ceremony, attended by the mayor, José Soria, and Council of Culture and Family, Nicolás José María del Toro and Maya respectively.
As explained by the President of the Society of Colombicultura ceheginera, Sunday Ródenas, "the turnout was very good, above average, individuals arriving from all corners of the region, such as Murcia, Lorca, Caravaca, Mula, Bullas and elsewhere. "
Ródenas stressed that this year, as a novelty, has joined the contest a new variety, the Cuckoo Lorca.
Beside her, participated valuable specimens of breeds Laudino Murciano, Quebrao Murciano, Morrillero and Porcelano, whose morphology and the jury valued qualities when presenting the awards.
The awards ceremony attended by tens of pigeon enthusiasts and owners of pigeons on the ship where there has been exposure, located next to the City of Transportation, in the industrial area the dunghill.
During delivery, the mayor wanted to support a hobby that has many followers in the town of Cehegín.
This competition has been scoring for the championship of Spain native breeds of pigeons, which this year will be held between February 25 and March 10 in the town of Murcia Mula.
