Cehegín City Council has launched a campaign to collect used mobile phones and tablet, operating or not, so they can be sold to phone companies and the proceeds support several families with children affected by the syndrome Angelman (SA).
This syndrome is a neurogenetic disease considered rare, as it affects 1 in 20,000 newborns, and is characterized by severe mental retardation, severe speech impairment, ataxia and / or tremor in the limbs, and an apparent state of joy that includes laughter frequent smiles and excitability.
The funds raised will go to help these families through the creation of new lines of research into the disease.
The Councillor for Social Services City of Cehegín, María José De Maya, has stated that "we must give our support to the families affected by this problem, who struggle daily to their children have a better quality of life."
The phones and tablet may be deposited in various municipal buildings such as City Hall, House of Culture, Youth Space and schools.
