This morning the Cehegín City Council has filed a motion for discussion at the next Full Council.
The proposal is simple: the PSOE wants the election of Mayor-headman of each of the parishes, not made by the Mayor of Cehegin, but by the citizens of each of these hamlets, through direct and secret ballot.
With the election of headman by the citizens of the districts, the Socialist Party seeks to democratize public life of them.
This, in addition to full participation in all areas of decision of its parishes, are allowed to be authorized to establish the actions they deem most important for economic and social development of them.
The paradox is that, often, the Municipal Government's interests do not coincide with what they really want the residents of the hamlets and irrespective of the magnitude of the work or service performed.
All of this is the result of the lack of good communication between local rulers and an interlocutor who is the legal representative of the citizens of the hamlet.
José Rafael Rocamora, said that "this form of election of Mayors, headman, besides giving the districts claiming the spotlight for years and they deserve, will have a representative to defend the true interests of their neighbors."
