The Department of Environment, led by María Dolores Carrasco, has installed new containers for used cooking oil, Calle Ginés de Paco (with Banesto) Begastri Street (opposite Church of Barrio San Antonio), the Esplanade Health Centre and the Plaza Pepin Liria (entrance to St. John of Austria).
These supplement those found in the Market Square, the Pensioner Club, schools and Virgen de las Maravillas Pérez Villanueva, and EcoPark.
The modus operandi is to save the used oil (for cooking and canning) in plastic bottles.
When filled, close to the original cap and placed in the orange container.
Carrasco also recalled the importance of recycling this waste, which in most cases it is discharged to the sink cells, leading to serious environmental problems, pollution of soil and water, economic, causing congestion in networks sanitation and difficulty in purification in treatment plants, and social, by the formation of odors in the pipes.
If deposited in these containers, is turned into biofuel completely organic and biodegradable, with a low degree of pollution which helps decrease the discharge of CO2 into the atmosphere from fossil fuels.
