The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, attended today the National Day XIII Greenway Tour concluded with a march in the town of Cehegín.
He was accompanied by the local mayor, Jose Soria.
Garcia stressed that it is a day "to get in touch with nature and enjoy the extraordinary landscape of the Northwest Region of Murcia."
The Northwest Greenway has a length of 78 miles that run between Murcia and Caravaca de la Cruz.
To this day he has organized a tour of nine km stretch of the route that starts from ancient Cehegín station, past the ruins of the city of Begastri and reaches the Viaduct Burete to return again to the former station in the municipality.
The greenways are put ecotourism trails for walking, cycling or horse.
In most cases are based on old railway lines and are characterized by accessibility, ease of travel, safety, ecological and landscape integration.
For the conditioning of the Northwest Greenway was allocated between 2008 and 2009 more than four billion euros on infrastructure.
