The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, the general director of Water, Miguel Angel Ródenas, Cehegín mayor, Jose Soria, and the council works and services, parish and the Environment, Juan Antonio Chico, Joaquín Marín and María Dolores Carrasco, respectively, have opened new infrastructure of comprehensive recovery plan of the Rio Argos.
This envisages a network of 17 km of collectors, which connects the filter to the hamlets of Canara, The Carrasquilla, El Campillo de los Jiménez, Algezares, the head, Canara Ravine, Los Parry, La Vereda Arjona, stack, House Vereda, Los Santeros, Los Paulos, The Grid, High Houses, the crippled, the Breakers, La Tercia, Cortijo Capel, Cortijo Bolás, Casa del Cura, The Towers and The Factory.
This project also included the expansion of San Ginés Treatment Plant, which has tertiary treatment for sewage, which make them suitable for reuse, even exceeding the levels set by the European Union.
With an investment of 5 million euros has been able to realize the environmental recovery of the middle stretch of the Rio Argos, and improving the water quality of the Reservoir of Argos, thus directly benefiting a population of around 2,000, and involves the recovery of 2 hectometres of water per year.
According to the Minister Cerdá, "Rio Argos now has fully recovered from its source to the dam. With this type of projects we can say that the Region of Murcia is the first in Europe to purification and sanitation. Here we reuse 100 percent of purified water. "
For its part, the mayor of Cehegín said that "the situation of the parishes in terms of sanitation and purification was third world, but now we are at the level of the best cities in Spain."
