The project has been completed tertiary treatment system to improve the quality of treated water
The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, accompanied by the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, opened today to coincide with World Water Day, the whole works of comprehensive recovery plan Argos River which provides a network of 17 km collectors that connects 14 districts of the sewage.
The hamlets and centers within the network of collectors are Canara Canara, Carrasquilla, the battery, the Head, the Escobar, Campillo de los Jiménez, Home of the Trail, Los Santeros, Los Paulos, The Grid, Upper Houses, House Cura, Casa de las Torres and House Factory.
Built works also include expanding the treatment plant with tertiary treatment of wastewater that can be made suitable for reuse, according to the most demanding standards of the Code of California, thus exceeding even the levels established by the European Union.
This plan has allowed the environmental recovery of about six miles from the middle stretch of the river and improving the water quality of the reservoir of Argos.
The project benefits a population of 2,000 inhabitants and is the recovery of about two hectometres of water per year.
"With this project, and those made in the previous legislature in Caravaca, full recovery is complete Argos River from its source to the dam," said Cerda, who added that "this river is a tributary of the River Segura and this plan helps improving their quality. "
He said "the project implemented to restore the river Argos is great news to commemorate World Water Day."
The investment is 4.9 million euros, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, with help from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union by 80 percent.
