The director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernández, together with the Director of Business Area of La Caixa, Rosa Rios, and the representative institutions of the entity, José Antonio Meseguer, today visited the works, which have raised wages 520 work and the six people who participated at risk of social exclusion.
Among the benefits derived, Fernandez said "the reduction of erosion and soil loss and increasing biodiversity."
The works have contributed to "the consolidation of the slopes, the definition of public forest, improving the quality of agro-forest environments, the promotion of protected flora taxa as well as improving the habitat for species Fauna and Habitats of Community Interest. "
He also stressed that for afforestation "related species have been chosen to Murcia Northwest forest systems, some of which produce fruits that are eaten by numerous mammals and birds."
He added that "also took into consideration the colors that each of these species acquired in autumn period, to increase the landscape value of the area."
Among the species planted on the slopes are Aleppo pines, junipers, mastic trees, black hawthorn, wild olive, juniper and pine.
In the ravines were planted species of special concern as oak, aladierdo, strawberry, hawthorn and rosehip.
Land preparation has enhanced depth, improve infiltration and water holding capacity.
Plantations have been done manually, placing all species a protective tube to optimize their growth and conservation.
It is envisaged the implementation of two irrigation and replanting for at least a year.
