The President of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, together with the directors of Public Works and Culture, José Ballesta and Pedro Alberto Cruz, respectively, and the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, has laid the foundation stone Future work on the Coso Garden, located in Old Town location.
The event was also attended by the Town Planning, Gregorio Morales, who has shown extremely pleased to see the start of these works, which will result in an 'oasis' in the heart of Old Town Cehegín.
The company Murcia JOSE DIAZ GARCIA SA will be responsible for carrying out this work, for an amount of 3,975,510.82 euros (3,500,000 euros, provided by the Autonomous Community).
The project envisages the creation of a landscaped garden and the construction of a municipal office building, which will be fully integrated into the landscape.
The Garden of Coso enable future reuse of stormwater and sewage from the top of the Casco Antiguo, which will appeal to the fauna, flora and process the water, creating a great ecosystem, as has been asserted by the creators of the project, young architects Mónica García and Javier Rubio.
This project will involve a major change for this area of Old Town.
Under the title 'The mysterious history of the garden that produces water' was presented in Geneva at the prestigious Holcim, achieving the 'Holcim Awards of Recognition' to sustainable construction in Europe.
