Juana Brown, accompanied by the mayor of Cehegín, has checked the status of the regional public park homes in the town, after the execution of improvement works funded by the IVS
The managing director of the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region (IVS), Jane Brown, accompanied by the coordinator of the NGO for Development (NGO) Firefighters in Action, Cesar Claros, was today awarded the City Council's contribution to Cehegín campaign 'Bricks Solidarity', when first anniversary of the earthquake that struck Haiti.
"Firefighters have moved from Murcia to the earthquake-stricken area on several occasions and continue working on the construction of shelters that will provide accommodation for 500 people who have lost everything, thanks to funding provided by local government and citizens Region, which we encourage to work with this campaign, "said Brown.
Cehegín joins the municipalities of Cartagena, Abarán, Lorquí, Jumilla and Caravaca de la Cruz.
"All funds provided are intended solely to advance the construction of shelters. A year after the earthquake, the situation in Haiti remains critical and, therefore, we work to put our grain of sand in a country that has suffered a the most serious humanitarian disasters in history, "he said the managing director of IVS.
Plan 'Repair'
During his visit to Cehegín, Jane Brown, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Jose Soria, checked the condition of housing the regional public park located at Calle Gabriel Garcia Marquez, after the execution of additional works financed by the regional government within the Repair Plan II.
This is a total of 45 social housing where the IVS has made an investment of 141,457 euros.
The second project involves the adaptation of the facades of three blocks of flats and complements the work carried out in buildings throughout the Repair Plan I, which was an improvement of the habitability of housing 79 regional public park, through an investment of 131,457 euros.
