Next Thursday, May 3rd, a Citizens initiative is being debated in the Regional Assembly for the preparation of a technical evaluation report in order to estimate if it is necessary to carry out urgent works to adapt and rehabilitate the Río de Argos school of the parish ceheginera de Valentín that in the words of the regional deputy of Citizens, Juan José Molina, "is in a deplorable state."

Molina has visited the facilities of the educational center in the company of Jero Moya and Jesus Robles, spokesman and councilor of Citizens in the City of Cehegín, respectively.

The deputy of Citizens has indicated that the center presents unacceptable deficiencies.

It is a school that has cracks in the classrooms, which does not have an adequate electrical installation, which accumulates a lot of dirt and neglect.

"In view of the situation, we have asked for an audit to be carried out to determine if the school meets the appropriate conditions of habitability, and in the event that it meets them, to act immediately to repair the multiple deficiencies it presents;

if it does not meet the minimum conditions of habitability, we should consider the possibility of building a new educational center, "he added.

Molina is convinced that the Citizens initiative will be approved and expects the audit "to be carried out as soon as possible, because the current situation of the center does not allow further delays"

Air conditioning of schools

Representatives of Citizens have also visited the Ceip City of Begastri, one of the schools where it is necessary to undertake the initiative of Citizens approved in the Regional Assembly to heat up the educational centers of the Region.

Moya has pointed out that in several schools in the municipality of Cehegín the students have to endure for some days the rigors of extreme temperatures.

"We have the experience of what happened a few months ago at the Rio Argos de Valentín school, where temperatures below zero degrees were reached, but there are other centers such as the City of Begastri that also need adequate conditioning to avoid risks".
