The Mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, has signed an agreement with Martín García Romera, President of AFEMNOR (Association of Relatives and Persons with Mental Illness of the Northwest), through which the City Council will assign a plot of 750m2 exclusively to the realization of a gardening workshop for the users of the Day Center managed by this group, within its project called "La Huertica de AFEMNOR".
"La Huertica de AFEMNOR" is a plan that for some years have been carried out in the AFEMNOR Day Center through, as mentioned, a gardening workshop that, little by little, has been expanding in areas of sowing and gardening, creating a small ecological garden in different areas of the courtyard in which they are located, which has been gaining prominence over time, being a positive activity and high incidence in working with users of the Center.
Now, with this new plot they will embark on a new project in a space in which the users of the Center will already enjoy the experience of having their own garden, which will allow them to harvest whatever they want, without surface limitations.
The general objectives of the project are to awaken the sense of responsibility of everyone regarding the environment;
relate ecological garden and healthy diet;
to approach users to the observation and experimentation of nature starting from the work in the garden, as well as the treatment of information, as well as to develop cognitive, motor, personal balance, affective and social capacities, contacting the physical-natural environment through observation, manipulation and exploration of the garden and develop the values of solidarity, collaboration and coeducation.
