The City Council of Cehegín has commemorated this Thursday, March 8, in the central Plaza del Alpargatero, the International Women's Day.
It has done so with the reading of the manifesto in which the fundamental role of women in society has been vindicated, as well as the defense of their rights and equality policies as an instrument to advance towards a more just society.
This was read by the Councilor for Women and Equality, Antonia Fernandez, who was sheltered by the Councilor for Education and Culture, Maravillas Fernández, and the councilor for Public Safety, Joaquín López.
In addition, the event was attended by municipal representatives, women's associations, students of educational centers in the town, as well as the presence of users of the Day Center "Virgen de las Maravillas".
The events, to commemorate this day, will be transferred this afternoon to the House of Culture.
There will be held the first awards ceremony "Huella-Mujer Ceheginera".
An event, which will be held from 18:00, and in which, through different categories, the role of different women in the municipality will be distinguished.
