The mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, as well as Luis Gilabert, have signed, today, the mixed contract by which the company awarded the contract, Elecnor, SA, will carry out, over the next eleven years , the improvement of the energetic efficiency of the installations of external lighting of the municipality of Cehegín.
Ismael Abellán, Councilor for Works and Services and Energy Efficiency, was also present at the aforementioned firm.
The same has been subscribed for the amount of 355,506.55 euros, VAT included, amount that the City Council will pay annually in their respective monthly payments.
The total amount of this investment is estimated at around 2.7 million euros.
In this way, and in this type of contract, the contractor undertakes, in addition to managing the energy of public lighting, to make the change of the old luminaires to LED technology, of the more than five thousand public lighting points there are. in the municipality, that is, urban area, districts and municipal area.
To do this, new models of more efficient and less polluting luminaires will be installed.
This will reduce CO2 emissions to the environment, and there will also be an energy saving that will be 37%, passing the cost, from 563,200 euros to 355,506.55 euros, including VAT, which is the amount for which it has been awarded to the enterprise.
"We must guarantee our children," said Ismael Abellán, "an Environment equal or better than the one we have encountered." With this measure, we will reduce CO2 emissions from 1,760 tons to 384 tons, as well as KW hour consumption, which will reduce by 78% per year. "
It has also been explained that all new luminaires will be equipped with point-to-point telemanagement devices, with bidirectional communication, that is, from a command center it will be possible to know remotely both the evolution of consumption at each moment, as well as the possible breakdowns, cable theft, as well as regulate the light intensity of each luminaire.
The Mayor of Cehegín, meanwhile, stressed that "today is a very important day for our municipality, to the extent that we will be allowed, thanks to this contract, to renew our lighting." Thus, and in this way, we will improve the services, we will save on electricity bill, we will combat light pollution and we will make the most of the money that all cehegineros and cehegineras contribute to this City Council for a more efficient management ".
Finally, José Rafael Rocamora, pointed out that "the saving of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere is one of the commitments that this Government Team has, which we have been the first in the history of this municipality to create an Efficiency Department Energetics and, this is the proof that, for us, working in this field, the sustainable development of our society, is a priority.To be sustainable, the Mayor has concluded, it is not an option, only sustainability guaranteed the future of the municipalities. "
