The Mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, accompanied by the Councilor for Works and Services, Ismael Abellán, have been able to verify, in situ, the different works being carried out from the Institution in various enclaves of the municipality.
One of them has been the visit that they have made to the reconstruction works of the wall of the city Tardo-Romana de Begastri.
As a consequence of the intense rains that occurred last December of 2016, the stone form in part of the northern slope of Cabezo Roenas, adjacent to the Escobar road, which was already in poor condition, collapsed on said path.
It was necessary to remove the stones that invaded the road to eliminate the existing danger and to safely restore the transit through said road of communication.
The works were supervised by the Director of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, Francisco Peñalver Aroca, without the appearance of archaeological remains.
Currently part of the slope is unprotected and in other areas the existing form is in poor condition, which causes occasional landslides when rains of a certain intensity occur.
Also part of the fencing that was on the last fallen or is in poor condition.
The works to be carried out will basically consist of the reconstruction of the demolished and fenced form, consolidation of other existing parts, as well as the adequacy of the slopes.
For this purpose, the same stones recovered and others of similar characteristics will be used, so that the set is visually, as far as possible, in conditions similar to those preexisting.
This work is carried out within the program of promotion of agricultural employment in the field of collaboration of the Public Employment Service State with Local Corporations, will be contracted 4 farm laborers with construction peon category for 3 months and has a budget of € 47,565.09.
