The Councilor for the Environment of the City of Cehegín, María José Martínez, as well as the Area Manager of Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuentes, have presented the campaign for recycling glass to be held in the town, on the occasion of the upcoming Festivities 2017. This campaign has also had the collaboration of the Department of Festejos, directed by May Molina.
Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization in charge of managing the recycling of glass packaging waste in Spain, in collaboration with the councils mentioned by this City Council, will set in motion during the Cehegín Fiestas Patronales the awareness campaign " La Peña Recicla ", to promote the recycling of glass between all the festers and neighbors Cehegín.
The initiative, which will take place on September 10, 11 and 12, challenges all party huts to participate in the competition and compete with each other to recycle the largest number of kilograms of glass during these days.
The most recyclable tent will take a batch of produce from the ground.
Also, during those days, those who are taking the glass containers to the collection point, will receive different gifts such as hats and banners.
For the development of the contest, Ecovidrio will install a giant scale and two containers decorated with Mr. Igloo festero, where members of the barracks must attend from 13.00 to 17.00h.

Two monitors will weigh the glass and will control the recycled kg of each of the tents.
In addition, an ecopatrulla, will visit at the same time the festive premises encouraging them to participate in the contest and recycle all the glass containers they generate.

According to the latest available data for 2016, each farmer recycled an average of 21.4 kilograms of glass above the regional average.
With respect to the containerization rate, Cehegín is located with an average of 129 inhabitants per container, with a total of 118 iglues for the waste glass containers installed in the municipality.
Ecovidrio guarantees that 100% of the glass that is recovered in the containers is recycled to manufacture new glass containers and achieve multiple benefits for the environment and society.
With a gesture as simple as separating the bottles, bottles, jars and jars used to deposit later in the containers, reduces energy consumption, save raw materials and reduce landfills and air pollution.
Finally, the Councilor for the Environment has explained that, from the City Hall, will also be enabled a series of rigid plastic cups, which will be available in the Municipal Tent.
The acquisition of these, "for all those who so wish and bet on sustainable holidays," will be on a bond of 1 euro.

In this way, the council intends to "reduce the volume of plastic packaging generated during these days and make us aware of how important these actions are for the respect of the environment that surrounds us."
