Archaeological excavations of the Late-Roman-Visigothic city of Begastri have already started, as is usual every summer.
They are financed by the Department of Culture of Cehegín City Council, directed by Maravillas Fernández, and the University of Murcia and co-chaired by José Antonio Molina, a professor at the University of Murcia, Francisco Manuel Peñalver, Cehegín Museum Director and José Antonio Zapata, Director of the Mule Museum.
A total of 14 students from several countries such as Puerto Rico, Canada or the United States and several Spanish Communities will be in the same for 20 days, hosted in Casa Europa.
The Course of Field Archeology "The Visiting City of Begastri of the Center of Studies of the Middle East and Late Antiquity (CEPOAT), will be given to students and interested persons in which comprehensive training in fundamental aspects such as stratigraphy, GIS , Photogrammetry, CAD, topography, field drawing, material inventory, etc.
