The Forest House has hosted today the visit to Cehegín of the Director General of Rural Development and Forestry of the Region of Murcia, Federico Izquierdo, who has presented the first phase of the Special Plan for forest biomass in public forests Of the Region with the execution of four silvicultural projects for 2017 and 2018 in collaboration with the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín and Mula.
He was accompanied by the Councilor for Agriculture, María José Martínez, and by the Councilor for Public Safety, Joaquín López.
As explained, "this first phase includes forest management work in the hills of public utility 'Lomas de En Medio' and 'Majada de las Camas', located in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz, preventive forestry and diversification Of the vegetation structure in the 'Coto Real' and 'Sierra de Burete' mountains, in Cehegín, control of vegetation in 'Sierra de Pedro Ponce', and decrease of vegetable fuel in the 'Umbria of Sierra Espuña' Both in the municipality of Mula. "

Among the positive aspects of the sustainable use of biomass has been that it reduces the risk of fire, improves the phytosanitary status of forests against pests such as processionaria and borers and favors rural employment, as bioenergy generates 135 jobs Stable for every 10,000 inhabitants, compared to the 9 jobs generated by the use of fossil fuels.
