The schools of the locality have adhered, through an agreement, to the project, "My cole saves with energy", impelled from the City council of Cehegín.

This will be developed by the Sustainable Development Foundation.

The Mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, signed it today with the directors and directors of the city of Begastri, Virgen de las Maravillas, Conde de Campillos and Pérez Villanueva, as well as the Director of the Foundation mentioned, Emilio Ballester.

This project is part of the lines of work included in the municipalities attached to the Network of Sustainable Municipalities whose purpose is to improve the sustainability of the municipality.

The project consists of the awareness and learning of the smallest and the other actors involved in the education community about what is energy and water and how to save it through initiatives as simple as changes in consumption habits.

Therefore it is possible to reduce the money that each college spends on energy and water and only uses the savings.

These savings will be shared equally between the center and the local authority that pays energy bills.

In this way, 50% of the money saved reverts directly to the center and will be allocated to environmental education activities for students.

And the other 50% will be an income for the city that can allocate improvements in the facilities of the centers in the framework of energy efficiency and water saving.

Finally, we recall that, as explained by Councilor for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, Ismael Abellán, "this type of initiatives is framed in the Convention that, last year, we signed with this Foundation by which, during the next three years , This City Council will bet on the promotion of renewable energies, energy efficiency and sustainable mobility, as the main measures to reduce emissions of polluting gases from the municipality and thus contribute to the fight against climate change and the conservation of natural resources " .
