The Department of Public Safety, led by Joaquín López, through the Local Police of Cehegín, and in collaboration with the Provincial Traffic Department of Murcia, (Department of Road Education), have carried out, throughout this month March, the XV Days of Road Education in the educational centers of the municipality: Our Lady of the Wonders, Pérez Villanueva, Virgen de las Maravillas, City of Begastri, Conde de Campillos and Colegio Rural Agrupado.
In these Days, which have had as a theme "Road Education, BEFORE CROSSING: STOP AND LOOK!", Involved a total of 960 primary school students;
In addition, its main objective has been to acquire basic knowledge of road safety, to reinforce positive attitudes, to promote an appropriate behavior as pedestrian and driver of bicycles that will be of great help to them in the future.
The seminars consisted of theoretical-practical classes, which were given in the schools themselves, with the exception of the Virgen de las Maravillas school, which were held in Juan Carlos I Park, where a mobile traffic park For bicycles, that allowed to create a practice circuit in which the children could participate as much of pedestrians as of cyclists.
There, in the first place, a tour was made on foot around the circuit, where they were explained the meaning of the different signals and knew the circuit itself;
Later, they were able to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the theoretical session with bicycles.
The sessions lasted approximately one hour and were given by Cabo Tomás García and Police Officer Joaquín Serrano.
The Local Police highlighted "the great importance they have at these ages, not only the knowledge of the regulations for the use of public roads and areas intended for the circulation of bicycles and pedestrians, but also of the values ​​of Respect and coexistence that must be applied in the use of a space shared with others as it is the public way ".
In addition, they have continued to explain, "we must remember that parents are the reflection that children have as behavior, what they do when they are behind the wheel, respect for signs and compliance, will be behavior that later imitate their children "Hence the importance of learning about road education at all times"
Finally they have commented that "we trust that the minors" raise "their parents the importance of complying with the rules and respect the traffic signals when they are at the wheel."
