Today, the Mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, accompanied by the Councilor for Agriculture, María José Martínez, have presented a call, aimed at granting subsidies to farmers on aid for the reconstruction of damaged greenhouses By the snow storm last January of 2017. These will be published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia in the coming dates.
We recall that these snowfalls, which took place between the 18th and 20th of January, had devastating consequences in our municipality and, mainly, in a sector such as cut flower, which is so important for our local economy, causing the collapse of Many greenhouses and the farmers losing the infrastructure as well as the plantations they housed.
To these subsidies, authorized by the Municipal Budget, to which the council has allocated the amount of 10,000 euros, all natural and legal persons who are holders of greenhouses for business activity and who have been totally or partially demolished By the snow storm last January of 2017.
The Mayor has commented that "we wanted to put our grain of sand and that the City Council contributes to alleviate, in some way, the devastating effects that had an important sector for our economy as the cut flower"
José Rafael Rocamora also explained that "10,000 euros have been authorized because it is a quantity similar to what the City Council collects as a contribution to the year by these greenhouses." Therefore, we believed that it was fair that the revenues that the City acquires Via a contribution by this sector, be passed directly on the sector itself to provide aid "
"In addition, the Mayor has continued to point out, with these 10,000 euros, and taking into account the hectares of greenhouse affected, about 800 to 1000 euros of aid per hectare would come out, so that is a reasonable enough amount, As to cover virtually all municipal taxes, which have to be met as a consequence of the reconstruction of the greenhouse, ie works license, responsible statement, etc. "
The deadline for submission will be 20 days from the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia.
The City Council will have a maximum period of two months to answer these farmers by estimating or dismissing the grant of the aid.
The criteria for the allocation of subsidies will be the number of m2 of greenhouses affected by the snowstorm.
Once received the applications and accredited the total of m2 affected, it will proceed to determine the amount to be subsidized by m2, dividing the total of m2 declared by the applicants that fulfill the conditions of the call between the total of the credit destined to the subsidies.
Once the distribution per m2 is determined, a grant proposal will be made by multiplying the accredited m2 affected by the amount of the m2 that has resulted.
It has also been explained that in order to justify the subsidy, the reconstruction of affected greenhouses for which a subsidy has been granted must be accredited.
The City Council, in order to give information to the farmers, has qualified in the Town Hall a worker from the institution to which they can be directed.
The place will be in the Center for Economic Promotion of Cehegín, located in the Garden of Coso, every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 14 hours.
