Councilor for Sports of the City of Cehegn, Joaqun Lpez, has reported that the Celtics Cehegn basketball team has proclaimed champion of the opening tournament of the Regional Basketball League of Murcia.
This league is played by basketball teams made up of students from public institutes in the Region of Murcia and according to the words of its president, Jos Vctor Costa, "aims to be a coexistence and a sociocultural event that promotes values such as solidarity, effort, Teamwork and equality. "
The competition lasts one academic year and is divided into two tournaments: the opening, which runs from September to February, and the closing, which runs from February to June.
Celtics Cehegn is a mixed team, made up of students from the institutes Vega del rgos and Alquipir and has proclaimed champion of the opening tournament by beating teams from other municipalities like Lorca, Totana, Santomera, Abarn or Abanilla.
The Councilor for Sports has said that "it is a pride any triumph of the people of Cehegn, especially in the sport and claiming those universal values that it owns, which makes it bigger to those who practice them and the society of which they are part" .
One of the rules of the championship is that each team can have a maximum of two federated players.
