The Governing Council, at the proposal of the Ministry of Presidency, has approved a grant of 6,900 euros to the Cehegín Association of Civil Protection Volunteers to contribute to the training expenses of its underwater rescue group during 2016.
This association is the only one of the Region with experience in this type of rescue and that counts on a group of volunteers specialists in underwater rescue.
It is integrated by divers specifically trained for this type of rescue, who have to previously acquire the training to be part of the group.
The association ensures that the volunteer members who are members of the group, and those who wish to take part in it, receive theoretical and practical courses of basic and advanced diving.
They also carry out practices in the aquatic environment for recycling and continuous updating in this area.
The aim is to ensure their specialization and increase the effectiveness of relief actions in all accidents or emergencies in the sea, rivers and swamps may be required to intervene, in specific cases where the material and personal resources of the professional bodies of the administrations Need support.
