| And joins the 'International Day of People with Disabilities' with various activities | On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is commemorated every December 3, the Cehegín City Council, through the Department of Social Policy, led by María José de Maya, has organized different initiatives aimed at supporting the municipality this day of social awareness, which aims to advance the full integration of this group and continue building a town where no one is left out.Among the actions launched on the occasion of this commemoration, the visibility of all people with disabilities through different enclaves and buildings stands out, which will be dyed Blue, as a show of support.
They will be the Plaza del Alpargatero and the façade of the Town Hall.In addition, as it has been advanced these past days, tomorrow Thursday, starting at 7:00 p.m., an online conference will be held, given by Sonia Ruiz Escribano, President and player of UCAM Wheelchair Basketball and which, in turn , is captain of the Spanish Basketball Team.
This initiative will be carried out by "Zoom", prior registration by sending an email to the account accesibilidad@cehegin.es. In total 12.09% of the population.For this reason, María José de Maya explained, it is important to work in this group "not only this day but during the twelve months, so that Cehegín can be a truly inclusive city, and that people with disabilities enjoy the same opportunities as the other citizens, adopting measures that contribute to eliminating situations of discrimination ”.In this sense, the councilor has made known the work that the City Council is doing on universal accessibility."We are working, he said, on what will be the 1st Universal Accessibility Plan, with the fundamental objective of creating an accessible environment that does not represent a reason for exclusion, establishing the bases for the removal of barriers in the environment and consolidating and defining without any limitation what the future design of Cehegín will be "“A plan, he explained, in which he has been working for months, since the end of 2019, through research, analysis of other plans, to see various entities related to disability, as well as the creation of a Motor Group, who are the drivers and those who are making it take shape little by little "María José de Maya has specified that “this is a project of the Government Team in which all the councils will intervene, each one in their own field, because accessibility is something transversal.
It will be a document that will mark what we want Cehegín to be with regard to disability, promoting the rights and well-being of these people in all areas of society "Thus, he explained that it will have different objectives and actions contemplated, as well as different areas related to "Awareness and Social Participation", "Traffic and Transport", "Spaces for public use", "Building", "Communication and Citizen Information" , "Culture, Tourism and Leisure", "Sports and Health", "Education, Training and Employment", "Social Services" and "Protection against emergency situations".The councilor has concluded her speech “giving all our support to people with disabilities, thanking all the people who work every day to make this equality possible, the people who are collaborating with this Institution, and those who do so.
