Between February 21 and 29, Cehegín will live one of his most anticipated weeks of the year, the Carnival, and will do so with a program that includes a series of novelties.

Juan Martínez, councilor of Festejos, has been satisfied with a program that has highlighted, on the one hand, the high level of participation, especially in the Grand Parade on Saturday of Piñata, in which they will premiere costumes around 40 troupes .

"The Carnival is done by the troupes and they are the ones that are being overcome year after year, and I want to thank them," said the mayor.

The councilor has underlined the novelties of this year, which will begin this next Friday, February 21, at 6:30 p.m., with a great Carnival dance at the Cehegín Casino, with the participation of the Day Center "Virgen de the wonders".

This activity has been presented by Juan José Gómez, Director of the mentioned Center, which has commented that this is "a way to recover an old tradition that made the Cehegín Casino the nerve center of Carnival".

This act will feature a proclamation by Antonio González "El Motolite", a great connoisseur of that carnival history of the Casino;

attendees can enjoy fried cakes and there will be a dance enlivened by the "Aqua Duo".

Already, on Saturday, February 22, will begin with the V Carnavatón, starting at 11:30 in Ginés de Paco street, in which the inscriptions will be made, proof that it will have two races, the “Infantilâ€�, at 12:00 hours;

and the "Perruna", at 12:30 pm.

Another novelty is the traditional Mascarón festival, which moves to this Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with a party on the Gran Vía, "Vamos de Mascareo", and in which attendees can enjoy music, tasting of fried cakes ... and the distinctions of "Mask of Remembrance", which has fallen this year in Francisco Martínez de la Ossa, "Paco El Ventanas";

and the "Mask of the Year" to Antonio Sáez Toral "El Maripepa".

That same night, starting at 10:30 p.m., in the Camelot Hall, there will be a Spanish Pop / Rock concert tribute to the 80s and 90s with the Rebobina group and this emblematic party room will also host the traditional "Contest of Masks "in which authenticity and staging on stage will be valued, with the Gold, Silver and Bronze masks and cash prizes awarded.

Sunday, February 23, will be the day starring the little ones, from in the morning, at 11:30, with children's activities in Ginés de Paco street.

But without a doubt, the main course of Carnival Sunday will be the Children's Parade in which Cehegín schools and children's schools and districts will participate.

It will be from 4:30 pm and its completion will be in the Camelot Room with a party and snack for the participants, enlivened by the "We Are Pirates" Cantajuegos.

On Tuesday, February 25, the VI Mascarón Children's Contest will be held in the Camelot Room, starting at 4:30 p.m. and, at 8:30 p.m., in the Archaeological Museum, another of the novelties of this will take place year, a Great Dance and toast of Carnival 2020, with the music of the Offenbach Quartet.

On Wednesday, February 26, the little ones can enjoy a Carnival-themed Storytelling with the play "Sambo and the Costume Party".

It will be in the Municipal Library from 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, February 29, Saturday of Piñata, will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special radio program with More FM, with interviews to comparsas and broadcast of the best carnival themes.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., around 40 groups, local and from other locations in the Region of Murcia, will participate in the Grand Carnival Parade, which will have its departure from the Plaza del Castillo, place from which "La Mask of the Year "will perform the" Scream of Exit. "

The program will end with the Carnival Party in the Camelot Hall and the delivery of commemorative plaques to the participating groups.

Finally, the mayor has noted the name of the winners of the Carnival posters.

In the modality of Adults, the winner has been Ramón López de Gea.
