The vice mayor, Jerónimo Moya, points out that the new intersection of RM-717 is “a fundamental connection, the result of the claim of Citizensâ€
Citizens Cehegín has celebrated today the beginning of the asphalting and road marking works at the new intersection of the RM-714 regional road, which connects Caravaca and Calasparra, with the road of the cemetery Cañada García, in what will be the The last phase of the works of “a fundamental connection, the result of the claim of Cs, which will give better service to the cooperatives and farmers of cut flowers, as well as to the local quarriesâ€, said the first deputy mayor, Jerónimo Moya.
These are works that will reinforce the safety of the almost 5000 drivers who travel daily on this route, of which some 800 are heavy vehicles coming, mainly, from the cehegineras of Canara, El Campillo and La Pilá.
According to the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, who has just supervised the status of the works, the works will be completed before the end of the year and will have an investment of close to 500,000 euros.
The projected intersection, of type 'T', will have central waiting and incorporation lanes to channel left and right turn movements, as well as an islet to make the change of direction.
Likewise, the road of the RM-714 road will have two lanes of circulation, in addition to a central lane for storage, waiting and incorporation, together with external shoulders at the edges of the road.
On the other hand, the project contemplates the conditioning of access to a quarry located on RM-714, at the height of kilometer point 58.8.
It will also be of type T, but it will not have the possibility of making left turns, although it will have speed change wedges that allow vehicles to access the quarry.
To allow the left turn of the vehicles coming from the Quarry and that want to go towards Calasparra, a turning branch has been projected.
This is “a work that is the result of a historical claim by farmers, which Citizens endorsed and implemented at the time in the budget negotiations,†concluded Jerónimo Moya.
