The Councilor for Women and Equality, Mónica Sánchez, has recently presented an initiative, "Women in memory", aimed at seeking citizen collaboration to rescue all women in the town from oblivion who, in some way, had a important biography, they made relevant facts and that, however, are forgotten.
Therefore, as the mayor explained, she intends to "rescue the role of women in different fields or disciplines from oblivion of history."
To do this, all people who wish, may make these women visible, either because they were familiar, because they knew them, etc., preparing a biography of them, of maximum three pages, which can take illustrations, and send it to the mail adl2@cehegin.es.
The City Council has also installed a banner on its website where you can download this information and follow the course of this initiative.
The City Council, through its Center for Women and Technology, Cati de la Ossa, will be receiving all that information that will be published through its general communication channels and, with all the material received, an exhibition will be held that will serve to make visible and recognize the important role that these women have had in the history of our town, either since anonymity, or since public significance, given that “they have been forgotten or silenced by historiography,” said Mónica Sánchez.
The tour, therefore, will allow a new reading of History, more fair, rigorous and adjusted to the reality of women and men who lived in Cehegín at different historical times.
