The First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Citizen Participation and Transparency, Jerónimo Moya, has presented, before the media, the procedure of citizen participation through which, the inhabitants of the different districts of Cehegín, may choose their Mayor .
The process will have information campaigns and neighborhood dissemination so that all the neighbors know first hand the procedure to be followed and can present themselves as candidates if they wish.
This initiative, as explained, wants to give voice to the neighbors of the districts and deepen and strengthen democratic values, while offering these representatives the possibility of working to improve the districts and all citizens that they live
The City Council will begin this procedure on the same day today, October 16, through the publication in the districts of a Side explaining what this process consists of and the dates on which it will be carried out.
The neighbors who wish to express their preferences on the designation of pedáneos must be of legal age, be registered in said district on the date of publication of this Party and have the capacity to act, not stating that they have been declared incapable by virtue of a final judicial sentence. and identify with the DNI, NIE, Passport or Driving License at the time of expressing your preference.
Residents in each district may apply as possible representatives of the Mayor in each district as long as they meet the following requirements: be over 18 years of age, be registered at least three years in said district on the date of publication of this Side, and have the capacity to act, not stating that they were declared incapable by virtue of a final judicial sentence.
Those persons who hold public office may not apply.
From October 17 to November 7, 2019, those who wish to do so will register in the offices of the City Council written to the Mayor's Office stating that they meet the above requirements and the name of the district where they reside and, therefore, of which they wish to be Mayor representatives.
On the other hand, it has also been explained that in the event that a single representative is nominated, he or she must obtain in this process at least 20% of the support of the residents in the district.
In the event that a single representative is nominated for a district, the consultation will not take place, the only candidate for mayor being raised for consideration.
In the event that there is no application for a representative of the Mayor's Office or does not obtain the 20% previously mentioned in any of the districts, the Mayor will directly designate the representative for that population center.
And that the City Council will enable the necessary mechanisms so that the citizen participation process is carried out with all democratic and participatory guarantees.
