The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia in collaboration with the Local Police of Cehegín, in the framework of services aimed at preventing and prosecuting drug trafficking, has developed the CHAMAYO operation, an investigation that has resulted in the finding of a marijuana plantation, indoor type, in a building of the ceheginera district of El Chaparral, where about 4,000 sativa cannabis plants, abundant electrical and electronic material have been seized to facilitate its indoor cultivation, as well as 2,556 euros in cash.
The investigation has culminated in the arrest of two people as alleged authors of the crimes of cultivation and drug production, and of fraud of electric fluid.
The investigation began last August, when the Civil Guard was alerted to an alleged irregularity in the electrical consumption of a property, located in a place of the ceheginera district of El Chaparral.
After conducting the first surveillance, the agents noted the strong smell of marijuana that emanated from the place, as well as what appeared to be a two-story house, presented the windows boarded up with some type of panel and several chimneys on the roof.
From that moment, the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Cehegín established in the area a series of discreet surveillance devices that allowed to find out the identity of the owner of the house, as well as that of the person who regularly visited the house.
The evidence obtained has been brought to the attention of the judicial authority, who has ordered the corresponding entry and registration order in the dwelling object of the investigation.
Collaboration of the Cehegín Local Police
Civil Guard agents, supported by agents of the Cehegín Local Police, have inspected the building where 3,986 sativa cannabis plants have been located and seized, abundant electrical and electronic equipment intended to facilitate intensive plant cultivation, as well as 2,556 euros in cash.
In addition, the electricity supply was being fraudulently captured from the grid.
The CHAMAYO operation has culminated with the dismantling of a greenhouse of marijuana plants that had been enabled inside an agricultural warehouse, located in the ceheginera district of El Chaparral and with the arrest of two people to whom the alleged one is attributed authorship of the crimes of cultivation and elaboration of drugs, and of fraud of electric fluid.
According to the investigation, the owner of the house moved regularly from his residence, in the province of Cuenca, to Cehegín, to meet with the person who allegedly was in charge of the plantation.
The male detainees, 51 and 62 years of age and Spanish nationality, the marijuana plants and the effects seized, as well as the proceedings taken have been made available to the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Caravaca de la Cruz.
