The Cehegín City Council has informed that, from the Institution, a coordinated plan for the elimination and prevention of uncontrolled spills has been launched.
On the one hand, the Department of Environment is conducting a study focused on the detection of uncontrolled landfills in the municipality of Cehegín, places that lack regulatory controls and with important environmental consequences, since their presence is synonymous with outbreaks of rodents and insects, as well as the danger of combustion, emission of gases and odors, soil degradation, landscape degradation and pollution.
Subsequently, the Department of Works and Services, within the mandatory municipal obligations, is working on the classification of waste, selective collection and transport to authorized landfill or clean point.
These operations that have begun during this week within the urban center and that since Monday will be moving to the rural and forestry area.
In a parallel and continuous manner, the Department of Public Safety will implement a control and sanction device aimed at preventing these unhealthy points, a plan that will be coordinated by the Local Police.
From the City Council it is recalled that these illegal actions of uncontrolled spills, apart from environmental damage, entail personal and economic expenses to the municipal coffers, to all the cehegineros.
Finally, from the session, it is emphasized that, according to current regulations, the responsibility for these actions rests with two figures, on the one hand that of the environmental offender who performs the illegal action of transporting waste and dumping it in an unauthorized place , and on the other that of the owner of the land where they are poured.
