The Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, together with the Technological Center of Marble, Stone and Materials, is promoting a series of joint actions with the aim of renewing the sector in the Region of Murcia through the search of new markets with the In order to place Murcia's production as a reference in major architectural projects around the world.
The actions, which are being designed jointly with the Technological Center and the Association of Marble and Stone Businessmen of the Region of Murcia (Marsa), are aimed at giving a turn and giving greater added value to regional marble, with an impact in its unique qualities and looking for the sale of the already treated stone, instead of the export in blocks, for its treatment in factories outside of Spain.
"We seek to make a leap in quality, a renewal of the sector, which is to help companies move from the sale of marble blocks and natural stone to the sale of final products, with greater added value", said the Employment, Universities, Business and the Environment, Javier Celdrán.
Concrete actions
With this objective it has already been agreed to carry out three concrete actions, such as an international congress, inverse missions so that prescribers and architects know the marble produced in the Region of Murcia;
and an online promotion campaign aimed at attracting the attention of large clients and final buyers at an international level.
The international congress 'Future Stone' is aimed at prescribers of the sector, architects, designers and interior designers and responsible for shopping and innovation of hotel chains.
In this sense, there will be a day of lectures and specific topics, networking spaces and professional meetings between producers and potential customers.
The second day will be devoted to field visits to know first hand the product, both in quarries and companies.
In parallel, a reverse mission will be carried out to bring the Region to international architecture studios located in the United Kingdom and other countries, which are responsible for the design and construction of hotel infrastructures and emblematic buildings of both institutions and companies to show them the quality and characteristics of the marble produced in the Region of Murcia.
Finally, the third action already agreed is an online marketing plan that will revolve around the exclusivity of the type of marble that the Region has, as well as the international leadership in research in the sector with the R & D projects at the Marble, Stone and Materials Technology Center.
Improvement of the sector
Another point of work between the Info and the Technology Center is to provide companies with the training to be able to 'make the leap' and be more profitable, introducing improvements in the production process, increasing design and brand promotion, as well as internationalization and new models and lines of business.
The director of the Info concluded that "they are all a battery of measures for the sector to evolve and provide a greater added value to their products in a global market, demanding and increasingly competitive day, in which it is not enough to have the best material premium, as is the case of the one generated by the quarries of the Region ".
"These actions represent the core structure on which articulates an International Promotion Plan for the Marble and Natural Stone Sector of the Region of Murcia, a dynamic plan that will be monitored by a working group made up of companies from the sector, its own technological center and the regional government, a group that will propose new actions depending on the situation and evolution of the market ", concluded Celdrán.
